Avoiding gluten should not mean giving up sandwiches, hot meals, or variety.
At Living Green Cafe, many of the foods we already serve are naturally gluten-free, and we also offer specific alternatives that make it easier to enjoy familiar favorites without traditional bread.
Gluten-Free Sandwich Options
One of the easiest places to feel limited is the sandwich section.
That is why we offer gluten-free ciabatta for several breakfast sandwiches and other menu favorites.
Options such as the Built Strong and Sin Free can be prepared on gluten-free ciabatta, giving guests a real sandwich rather than forcing them to skip that part of the menu altogether.
At our Fort Lauderdale 17th Street location, our brunch menu also includes vegan and gluten-free pancakes.
The Hot Bar Gives You Even More Choices
Our rotating hot bar is especially useful for guests avoiding gluten because many of the foods are naturally free of it.
Depending on the day's rotation, that can include:
- Lemon pepper salmon
- Chicken
- Rice
- Roasted vegetables
- Brussels sprouts
- Kale salad
- Lentils
- Hummus
- Soups and other rotating sides
One day you might build a plate with salmon, kale salad and vegetables. Another day it could be chicken with rice and roasted sides.
The selection changes, so you are not stuck eating the same meal every time you visit.
Simple Food Makes Things Easier
A lot of gluten-free eating becomes easier when food starts with simple ingredients.
Our salmon is prepared with lemon pepper and extra virgin olive oil.
Our kale salad uses lemon, olive oil and sea salt.
Many of our vegetables are prepared with straightforward seasonings rather than relying on breading or heavy sauces.
That gives guests more options without needing to create complicated replacements.
Some Items Do Contain Gluten
We also believe in being clear about the exceptions.
Our meatballs are gluten-free. Items such as mac and cheese contain gluten, and other recipes may as well depending on preparation and the day's rotation.
If you have celiac disease, a serious allergy, or concerns about cross-contact, please speak with our team before ordering so we can help you understand the ingredients and preparation of a specific item.
Gluten-Free Should Still Feel Like a Real Meal
The goal is not to create one special gluten-free plate.
It is to give guests enough options throughout the menu that they can choose what they actually feel like eating.
A sandwich for breakfast.
Salmon and vegetables from the hot bar.
Chicken and rice for lunch.
Vegan pancakes at brunch.
Different day, different meal.
At Living Green Cafe, gluten-free should still come with choices.
